Windshield cracks and chips may be caused by a multitude of things from loose gravel or debris flying up, to a bird colliding with the glass. While a minuscule chip or crack may seem insignificant at first, it can be dangerous if left neglected. A crack or chip can reflect sunlight causing a glare impairing the driver’s vision, which could lead to an accident. As temperatures vary, windshield glass expands and contracts, if there is a crack this can cause it to branch out. The uneven ruggedness of everyday driving can also cause minor cracks to spread rapidly. What might only require a minor inexpensive repair could quickly escalate requiring full windshield replacement. The best thing to do when you notice a minor chip or crack is to have it assessed by a professional to see if repairing it is an option or if it needs to be replaced.
At times, coverage may be included in your insurance policy that can help offset the cost of repairing or replacing your windshield. As every driver’s needs are different, your coverage may or may not include glass repair/replacement. As your independent insurance agent, NCPA Insurance Services can review your policy and ensure your coverage's are adequate for your requirements. We are proud to service all of San Diego County including Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Escondido, and Del Mar.
